BE - Young artist in residence
The Belgian harpist Lise Vandersmissen (Genk, 1996) obtained a Bachelor's degree in Harp with highest distinction - Magna Cum Laude - from Leuven University College of Arts (LUCA, campus Lemmens) with Lieve Robbroeckx and a Master degree with honors from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama at Imogen Barford in London. In the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Lise got to know her passion for the Italian Triple Harp. She took lessons on this beautiful baroque instrument with Andrew Lawrence-King and Joy Smith.
The summer of 2021 looks very promising for Lise. During INTRA MUROS FESTIVAL, she will play various concerts during the festival weekend as a young artist in residence, both solo and with other ensembles. The public will be able to bond with a particularly dynamic talent from the region. With her Italian Triple Harp, Lise makes the atmosphere so light and soft that she seems to edit and paint the medium through which we look. Being open towards a young talent to be discovered is like being open towards dawn. Mindful of this philosophy, one can already look forward to a breakfast concert by Lise Vandersmissen in an elevated mood.
INTRA MUROS presents Early Music in a new festival context. In the past, the triple harp was mainly used as a continuo instrument. During INTRA MUROS FESTIVAL I will also present the triple harp as a solo instrument. So the challenge is to find repertoire that expresses the unique sound of the triple harp as a solo instrument. Musicians never stop learning. Life is an ongoing musical learning process, and the greatest inspirations are often fellow musicians. During rehearsals, new ideas are tried out , boundaries are pushed. Early Music, performed in the beautiful historic site of Alden Biesen, builds a total picture that allows the listener to be transported to another era.
